Cork is Stryker’s biggest innovation and manufacturing hub outside of our U.S. headquarters.
Stryker began operations in Cork in 1998 with 20 employees and one site. Today, our Cork facilities employ over 4,100 people across six sites, in R&D and manufacturing, and it is home to Stryker’s European operations leadership with many global programs led from Cork.
Stryker’s operations in Cork are driving a culture of innovation, which is reflected by the fact that a significant number of employees are working in R&D roles. Our Cork R&D teams have contributed to Stryker’s innovative portfolio—from stroke care to hip implants, from surgical instruments to 3D-printed devices.
At Stryker, we don’t see ourselves as simply being located in Cork, but as a part of the community, which comes with responsibilities. We take these responsibilities seriously. We regularly partner with groups and local representatives to positively impact our communities, and we’re proud to support local charities and organizations to help make a difference.
In February 2023, Stryker was named “International Company of the Year’’ and ‘’Overall Company of the Year’’ at the Cork Chamber awards. These distinguishments recognize Stryker’s 25 years of growth in Cork and our contributions to the local economy and community. Additional considerations included our headway in sustainability efforts and being an inclusive and great place to work for the people of Cork. We are incredibly honoured by these awards. People are at the heart of everything we do, and our employees are the reason for our accomplishments.
