The Mission of WISE (Women in Stryker’s Engineering) is to continually improve Stryker for women in engineering. WISE's goal is to be a strategic partner to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion through continual learning. WISE advances the understanding and inclusion of employees with a common background, set of interests and/or goals. WISE is a valuable mechanism to: (1) build a culture that fosters innovation; (2) offer employees access to leadership opportunities; (3) establish programs and activities aligned with our mission; (4) provide employees opportunities to develop and grow. There are four hubs (Awareness & Outreach, Communications, Development & Engagement, and Mentoring & On-boarding) within WISE to allow this group to focus on key areas to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion through continual learning, networking and community involvement.
In January, WISE members volunteered with the Perry Initiative. This program is a partnership between Beaumont Hospital and the Perry Initiative, which is an organization that promotes careers for women in orthopaedics and engineering. The program consisted of two days working with medical and high school students, teaching them about orthopaedics and career options in the medical device field. WISE volunteers supported demonstrations with our products and sat on a panel to talk about engineering experiences and career development.
