Your contribution toward the cost of healthcare benefits is based on your full-time or part-time status, the number of people you cover, and the plans you select. Your cost is deducted from your pay on a pre-tax basis—that is, before most federal, state and local taxes are withheld. This results in lower taxable income and therefore less taxes and more take-home pay.
