"The corona crisis has undoubtedly shown us how essential it is to have good equipment, including protective equipment in our hospitals."
About 1000 endoprosthesis operations are performed in our clinic every year. I use the Flyte helmet system as standard, especially for knee arthroplasty. My main motivations for this are on the one hand the protection of the patient through the sterile head covering and on the other hand my self-protection. This can be explained by the fact that the Flyte helmet system prevents the user from coming into contact with the patient's blood or even bone components. Due to the corona crisis, it is not possible to carry out elective operations due to the general disposition of the federal state of Saxony that is currently valid.
For us, this means that we are currently not allowed to implant knee and hip endoprostheses and, unfortunately, the patients have to continue to wait for their surgery. We very much hope that we will soon be able to operate our patients as usual again, but of course also under special protective measures.
Another thing that became very clear to us in this crisis is, of course, the importance of available protective equipment. Flyte has been readily available to us, and we use the Flyte helmet system, especially in the critical areas of the hospital. However, it has been a challenge that there is a supply shortage of FFP3 and mouth and nose masks.
The hood and the visor offer a protective function against blood- and liquid splashes, especially in face and eyes. Respiratory masks can be used under Flyte Hoods and Togas.
We are currently waiting for the federal and state government to decide when the planned knee and hip endoprostheses can start again.
The corona crisis has undoubtedly shown us how essential it is to have good equipment with including protective equipment in our hospitals. The Flyte helmet system is a great addition to the existing protective equipment. There were no delivery difficulties with this system during the crisis. Now, of course, I am looking forward to hopefully soon being able to provide my patients with good knee and hip endoprostheses.
I greet you all warmly! Stay healthy!
