"If before COVID-19 I may have used Flyte especially for the hips, now I am considering using Flyte for the knees."
On the day that this situation is going back to normal and we can return to operating, for me it is clear that I will always use Flyte. If before COVID-19 I may have used Flyte especially for the hips, now I am considering using Flyte for the knees. There are many microparticles created with the use of the saw and hammer also when performing knee surgery1.
What we will have to find out is if we will have to make a preoperative differentiation of our patients to learn if they are free of COVID-19 and to see if we treat them in the same way as we have been doing, following a COVID-19 free circuit and which process to follow in case of those patients that have been tested positive. We will also need to learn if it will only be trauma emergencies that we will be carrying and if we’re delaying elective orthopedics.
In any case, what I am thinking of doing is using the recommended type of mask2 with the Flyte helmet, so to ensure that I have would have more protection. We will have to wait a bit to see the evolution and the protocols that will be established as well
